April, May, and June 2018 taught me about timing. I’m a firm believer that everything happens for a reason and these 90 days were a testament to that! So many things were going on during this time, it was overwhelming when I started thinking about the future. I was in a transition period of deciding whether or not to quit my corporate office desk job or go back to teach middle school math. I found myself having more anxiety attacks than normal and frozen in fear when deciding anything. It was somewhere around the end of June when I had started an at home yoga practice did I learn how to control my anxiety. Yoga helped me not worry about what was going to happen tomorrow or next week, and instead enjoy each moment of each day. I’m so thankful for these lessons of timing as I could have never planned just how amazing those 3 months were!
April 2018 I booked my first senior photo shoot, booked my first blogger photo shoot, took photos for my family at Easter, was personally asked to rejoin the teaching world by my former teacher as their department’s lead 7th grade math teacher, joyfully walked Lucy everyday in the wildflower patch by our house, and made a home out of my house by planting flowers in the front yard for the first time in two years! I would later find out that I’m not good at keeping plants alive.
May 2018 I attended my first stylized wedding photoshoot in Austin, TX at the Hummingbird House, booked my first on-location graduation party photoshoot, had my tonsils and adenoids removed at the age of 26, threw my Dad a 60th birthday party, created another home movie for my family, and quit my cubicle corporate job I had taken since Summer 2017 to rejoin the middle school teaching world. I didn’t realize how much stress I put on my body that month of May until months after, but am so glad to be on the mend!
June 2018 is when I doubled up on my goals. I started a yoga routine following @yogoskenz, officially rejoined the teaching world as a 7th grade math teacher at the very same school I went to growing up, bought my Canon 6D camera, booked my first 1 year old birthday photoshoot, met with my scheduled bride and groom and their wedding venue, Oak Tree Manor in Spring, TX, celebrated my two year homeowner anniversary, binge-watched the hit Netflix Series “13 Reasons Why” which gave me a new perspective of bullying in today’s society, built my dream desk for the office, and took the sweetest pictures and video for my Nephew’s second birthday!
Everything that happened in those 3 months truly had the best timing, including this cover photo. That May morning I had to make the decision of whether or not to stay at my corporate office job or accept the position of 7th grade math teacher at my former middle school and teach alongside my former math teacher. I spent my entire commute that morning asking for a sign if I should go back to teaching or stay at my corporate office desk job. Just as I was saying out loud, “please give me a sign if I should go back to teaching – if I’m going to be able to help kids and if this is the school I’m supposed to be at, give me a sign.” As I turned the corner of I-45 onto Woodlands Parkway my jaw dropped as I saw a crazy amount of newly planted yellow and red flowers! To you this may look like a normal flowerbed but to me this was a sign that I needed to go back to teaching because yellow and red are the colors for the school I would be teaching at. The one and only time I was thankful for traffic that morning as I was able to snap this picture!
Stay tuned to my blog as I will be sharing next about my Third Quarter 2018 adventures!
